March 11 – Day Six

We all hade a nice easy start around nine when we climbed into the kayaks. The nice thing was that they were waiting for us on the beach. The weather was very overcast and raining but not too hard. After about a half hour the rain stopped and we could see some blue sky to the south that was headed our way.

We paddled to the eastern arm of the fjord and headed up to get cozy with some more glaciers. By the time we stopped for lunch we had a mostly blue sky. More beautiful glaciers and photo op stops for the rest of the day. Light wind all day and sunny the second half of paddle. We did 15.4 nautical miles today for another fantastic paddle. Here are some pictures for this day.

Paddling with my rain hat :)
And more huge glaciers
We got pretty close when we stopped for lunch.
Our lunch stop beach.
More glaciers to see after lunch.
We paddled along a big wall and I suggested to Justine that we “Hug the wall” She took my suggestion literally:)
Paddling back to the yacht.

Next up was loading all the kayaks onboard and lashing them down as we expect some heavy weather as we transition to our next location in the morning.

And one more picture from a fantastic anchorage.
